VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: So I'm often asked by patients, "When is a good time to use Botox or fillers as opposed to doing a more extensive face lift procedure or eye procedure?"
And I answer that, particularly in younger patients who are showing early signs of facial aging, placement of filler to the folds that are near the mouth may soften those early signs of aging. Use of Botox to the, what we call the parenthesis lines, or the lines on the lower forehead, or the transverse lines, the lines that cross our forehead particularly with animation, may also create a somewhat more youthful, more rested appearance - understanding that both Botox and filler injections are temporary procedures. They're procedures that require maintenance.
But I think that for the patient who does not want to have the longer downtime of a more extensive procedure, who has more subtle signs of aging, perhaps the younger patient with early signs of facial aging, Botox and fillers may be an excellent option to at least temporarily treat the early signs of aging that are bothersome to her.
