Dr. Sullivan started his medical career in New Orleans. He earned his undergraduate degree in biomechanical engineering from Tulane University. He then received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, where he also completed his general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery residencies.
After finishing his residency training, Dr. Sullivan decided to follow his passion for microsurgical breast reconstruction and commit himself to helping women heal from the effects of breast cancer. Countless women have benefited from his expertise and his compassionate approach to patient care.

Dr. Sullivan has always demonstrated a desire to advance the area of breast reconstruction. He is a founding partner of the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery and the St. Charles Surgical Hospital, the only hospital in the world dedicated exclusively to breast cancer care. Along with his colleagues, Dr. Sullivan has pioneered landmark breast reconstruction techniques using the patient’s own tissue. He has also dedicated significant time to educating fellow surgeons about advanced techniques and technology by publishing about advances in breast reconstruction and lecturing around the country on the same subject. Dr. Sullivan is widely regarded as an expert in innovations of breast reconstruction.

Dr. Sullivan has been honored to receive numerous awards throughout his professional career. The American Cancer Society named him a Spirit Award Honoree for going above and beyond in the fight against cancer. Susan G. Komen New Orleans honored him with the Support Angel of the Year award. Dr. Sullivan has also been named one of the “Best Doctors in America” numerous times.
