On May 1, 2018, Dr. Orringer took part in a panel discussion of world-renowned experts pertaining to the diagnosis and treatment of hereditary breast cancer. He discussed current concepts of breast reconstruction including nipple-sparing mastectomy and reconstruction, use of newer fifth generation silicone gel implants and other currently available materials, DIEP and other flap procedures. Dr. Orringer also discussed his algorithmic approach to aesthetic mastectomy incisions based upon cosmetic surgical principles. These innovative approaches are geared toward reducing risk while restoring a sense of wholeness following both preventative and therapeutic mastectomy and reconstruction.
